Unlike in most other countries, weddings in India are not just about two people getting married. Indian marriages are a union of two families. It is the perfect excuse for both families to come together and celebrate the ceremony in a grand way. Men go crazy with the wedding preparations while women go gaga over their dresses, jewelleries and make up.

And let's not even get started about the bride and the groom and the series of rituals they go through. But the excitement is contagious and the entire occasion is a lot of fun for everyone involved. All of us love weddings, especially attending them.

We present you a few weddings and their rituals across India.

1. Bengali Wedding

A Bengali wedding is followed by saat paak, where the bride encircles the groom seven times,  while covering her face with betel leaves. Afterwards, shubhodrishti is performed, where the bride removes the leaves and the couple’s eyes meet. This is followed by the blowing of conch shells.

2. Malayalee Wedding

Weddings in Kerala are short and crisp. They are held in the morning. The nuptial ceremony is called velli. The bride’s father welcomes the groom by washing his feet. The groom ties a taali (a yellow thread) around the bride's neck.

3. Assamese Wedding

The wedding day starts with the bathing custom, where the bride and groom’s mothers visit a nearby river to fetch holy water for the bath. The reception party, in Assamese weddings, is held before the marriage ceremony. Earlier people were fed curd, rice and jaggery, but nowadays people conduct lavish wedding receptions.

4. Buddhist Wedding

A Buddhist wedding, just like their culture, is a simple affair; there are no mandatory rules and regulations. The couple gets married in a Buddhist temple,  licensed as a legal marriage venue.

5. Jain Wedding

Jain 'vivah vidhi' is followed by three major pre-wedding ceremonies, Lagan LekhanLagan patrika and SagaiPheras and kanyadan are two important aspects of a Jaini wedding.

6. Kannada Wedding

The first ritual is to clean the mandap where the bride and groom will sit. The bride is brought to the mandap by her sisters, covering her face with a fan made of peacock feathers. Afterwards, the bride’s parents give their daughter away in a ritual called ‘dhare herdu’ followed by ‘satapadi’ (seven circles).

7. Gujarati Wedding

The wedding starts with jaimaala, where the couple exchange garlands twice. There are just four pheras in Gujarati weddings followed by seven steps.

8. Christian Wedding

The bride arrives at the venue with her father and is received by the groom’s best man with flowers. The priest reads the psalms and the couple take their vows and sign on a register. The reception is a great affair in Christian weddings.

9. Kashmiri Wedding

On the wedding day, ‘Diugun’ is performed (like the haldi ceremony). At the arrival of the groom and his family, the fathers of the couple exchange nutmeg as a symbol of their friendship. Kashmiri weddings are very similar to Hindu marriages.

10. Maharashtrian Wedding

Prior to the wedding, the shakhar puda (engagement) ceremony takes place. During the wedding, the couple is separated with a silk shawl partition. After mangalshatkas are recited, the shawl is removed. After a few rituals, the couple seek permission from their parents to get married and then the pheras take place.

11. Marwari Wedding

Pithi dastoor  is one of the important pre-wedding ceremonies which continues till the wedding day. When the groom arrives at the bride’s place, he has to hit a toran, tied on the door with a neem  stick, followed by pheras and kanyadaan.

12. Muslim Wedding

Nikaah, in Islam, is read by two priests. After the consent of the groom and the bride, nikhanaama is signed. Then khubtah, a religious dialogue, is recited. Afterwards, a mirror is placed between the couple, where they see each other for the first time.

I am always perfectly willing to try a new concealer. It’s because I’m still trying to find “the one.” One concealer to rule the mall…one concealer to…well actually, just one that can effectively cover my dark circles AND any redness. The Smashbox Camera Ready Full Coverage Concealer seems like it could be the one because look at that name – Camera Ready,Full Coverage. Let’s see:

Smashbox Camera Ready Full Coverage Concealer Review

Smashbox Camera Ready Full Coverage Concealer

Smashbox Camera Ready Full Coverage Concealer

Product Description from Smashbox’s website:

Dark circles and blotchy spots are a thing of the past with this vitamin-infused, portable fix-it stick. The innovative formula contains a soft focus powder to help minimize imperfections and keep your skin looking younger. Provides natural yet buildable coverage on any area of the face.

Smashbox Camera Ready Full Coverage Concealer

Price:

20 USD.

$20 doesn’t seem like too bad a price, right? I find it kind of expensive though, considering the size of this product. It’s in a sleek, small black tube in a matte finish, like Nars’ packaging. It’s noticeably slimmer than a lipstick. It looks teeny, especially when the tube is opened and the product is swiveled up, because it is. It contains .08 ounces/2.3 grams of product, which is not a lot, and pricier compared to MAC’s cream concealer, the Studio Finish Concealer, which is $19 and contains .24 ounces/7 grams of product.

Smashbox Camera Ready Full Coverage Concealer

Smashbox Camera Ready Full Coverage Concealer

The small size does have its advantages. Combined with a slanted tip, it makes for very convenient application on small areas on my face. I swipe the stick directly on my skin, which is the easiest and most efficient way to use it.

It has a mild scent that I barely detect. It applies quite smoothly for a cream/stick concealer—one of the best features of this product, in my opinion. Even when I swipe it on rather carelessly, like when I am in a rush or applying makeup in the car, it doesn’t cake, look streaky, or drag on the skin. I love that it doesn’t pile up on the skin, no matter how heavily I apply it. It’s not stiff, dry, or waxy.

Smashbox Camera Ready Full Coverage Concealer

It’s lightweight on the skin and doesn’t feel sticky or moist. Basically after I apply it, I don’t feel it on my face, whether the day is cool or humid. Now, let’s discuss the “full coverage” part. Er…not really. I find that it gives medium coverage, at best. The areas that I want to conceal are my gray-purple under the eyes, the redness around my nose, and any blemishes (basically, areas with different levels of pigmentation). This concealer makes them look a little better, and they don’t stand out as much as when I am bare-faced, but they’re still visible. This doesn’t conceal them.

Smashbox Camera Ready Full Coverage Concealer

It does look natural on my skin though. The finish of it is semi-matte and it blends on the skin easily. I swipe the stick directly on my skin, pat gently with my finger, and it’s good to go.

Smashbox Camera Ready Full Coverage Concealer

The Smashbox Camera Ready Full Coverage Concealer is available in six shades. What I have is shade 5 Golden Beige. I have medium, yellow-toned skin, NC 35 at MAC. 5 Golden Beige seems more neutral-toned than warm-toned, but it blends into my skin tone and doesn’t look ashy or too light. There is only one shade darker than this one, so I don’t know if there are any shades that would suit much darker skin tones than mine.

Smashbox Camera Ready Full Coverage Concealer

It wears for about five hours my skin before it starts fading. I think due to the light-medium coverage, natural finish, and average staying power, it should be fine for a quick jaunt or errand, but not for when you need to be camera-ready or need makeup that lasts for many hours.

Smashbox Camera Ready Full Coverage Concealer

Pros of Smashbox Camera Ready Full Coverage Concealer:

Applies smoothly, nicely.
Doesn’t cling to dry patches.
Blends easily.
Has a natural-looking finish.
Has a lightweight feel on skin.
Doesn’t irritate my skin.
Mildly scented.
Slim packaging and slanted tip make it efficient for precise application.
Very handy size.
Cons of Smashbox Camera Ready Full Coverage Concealer:

Pricey for a small amount of face product.
Not full coverage as it claims. Gives light to medium coverage.
Poor shade selection.
Average lasting power.
The matte packaging attracts dirt and fingerprints.
Would I Repurchase Smashbox Camera Ready Full Coverage Concealer?

No.

IMBB Rating:

3.25/5

Smashbox Camera Ready Full Coverage Concealer

It’s nice that it applies so smoothly and looks natural, but the coverage it gives is too light for my needs and I prefer a concealer that will last all day. Unfortunately, it’s not “the one,” but thankfully, there are still 9549075 concealers out there to try.

London, Aug 25 - Tired of wearing eyeglasses? Scientists have developed a technique that could see reading glasses gone forever.Soon it may replace laser surgery that still requires reading glasses in dim light.

Technology may soon end eyeglasses era forever

In this technique, a tiny implant known as raindrop is placed under the cornea to solve vision problems linked to ageing.

Raindrop can not stop eyes from ageing. But it can help check deterioration in eyesight caused by the ageing, said Mark Wevill, an opthalmic surgeon at Space Healthcare in Royal Leamington Spa, a famous spa town in Warwickshire.

Wevill has completed the surgery on handful of patients.

The technique takes only 10 minutes to complete.

During the process, anaesthetic droplets are inserted into the patient's eye so they remain conscious throughout as the implant is placed under a flap of the cornea, Daily Mail reported.

It corrects near medium vision by changing the shape of the cornea with the central section becoming steeper, it reported.

Mumbai, Aug 25 - She became the butt of all jokes following her appearance on Karan Johar's chat show, but now actress Alia Bhatt has taken a potshot at herself via an entertaining video titled Alia Bhatt - Genius of the Year, which is gaining popularity on online social media.

Bollywood Actress Alia Bhatt takes potshot at herself

So after the 'Alia Bhatt Jokes' thing...I decided to FIX my BRAIN! Check this out, the sporting Alia posted on Twitter Monday morning.

A brief description of the YouTube video, uploaded by comedy collective All India Bakchod (AIB), reads: What did Alia Bhatt do after the internet turned her into the butt of all jokes? A documentary crew found out...

The video features Alia herself, with appearances by her father and filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, as well as friends and colleagues like Karan Johar, Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra.

It begins with a message that reads - In 2014, a documentary crew follows Alia Bhatt in the aftermath of her 'Koffee With Karan' debacle.

The video, featuring Alia as herself, is a funny fictional take on what the 21-year-old went through after her general knowledge, rather the lack of it, was known to the world when she called Prithviraj Chauhan as the country's President on Karan's show.

In the video, she is seen talking about how hurt she was when instead of searching for Alia Bhatt hot pics on Google, people started looking for Alia Bhatt jokes.

She then visits a 'Dumb Belle Mental Gym', which offers her to take her from Dolce & Gabbana to 'Smart like Shabana (Azmi)'. At the 'gym', she reads newspapers and her diet is three portions of newspapers in the morning and she is instructed to skip Page 3. She is made to brush up her knowledge via music, and she lands on Koffee With Karan again and stuns host Karan with her answers.

The video's end is to watch out for!

Directed by Shakun Batra, Alia Bhatt - Genius of the Year is being loved by celebrities like Hrithik Roshan and Abhishek Bachchan as much as by the actress' fans.

BRAVO @aliaa08 this is superb! And it's also @karanjohar 's best performance ever, tweeted Abhishek, while Hrithik posted: Fell down laughing! Talent wth a twist, @aliaa08 u are sensational.

Praising it, Farhan Akhtar said: Now this is funny.. Hahahaha.. Love it. Full points to @aliaa08 @shakunbatra @karanjohar.

Hansal Mehta called the video disarmingly cute, and her Student Of The Year co-star Sidharth Malhotra tweeted: Hahaa brilliant @aliaa08 so endearing n sporting n kudos to you.

As a mom of three sons, Melissa Joan Hart knows her way around the boys department. Her only problem? The selection of tees and denim duds that the actress wanted to add to Mason, 8½, Brady, 6, and 23-month-old Tucker‘s wardrobes weren’t available.

Melissa Joan Hart Launches Cool Boys Collection via people magazine

So Hart did the next best thing: She teamed up with husband Mark Wilkerson and together the couple created King of Harts, a surfer meets cool school boy collection of kiddie clothes.

Melissa Joan Hard King of Harts

Available in sizes 2 to 12, the line is full of bright tops, chambray shirts, vintage-inspired jean jackets and mix-and-match bottoms.

The Melissa & Joey star opened up to PEOPLE about everything from her new designer role, three of her favorite models (her boys!) and working with her husband.

This interview is taken from PEOPLE Magazine through Melissa Joan Hard King of Harts

PEOPLE: How did you find time to balance Melissa & Joey with starting your own clothing line?

Melissa: Between full-time mom, M&J and directing a Christmas movie for Lifetime this summer, it’s taken a lot of extra focus to start King of Harts.

But this has been a dream of mine since my first son was born 9 years ago and I’m thrilled it has finally launched.

PEOPLE: I’ve heard so many people say it’s hard shopping for boys clothes — did that play into creating a cool line that parents and kids would enjoy?

Melissa: Definitely! Mark and I were frustrated by the lack of interesting options in the boys section at most stores and that we couldn’t find any graphic tees that didn’t have licensed super heros on them.

Melissa Joan Hart King of Harts

PEOPLE: What was it like working with your husband on the launch? Did you ever have to (want to!) veto his input?

Melissa: Being in business with family is tricky. But he loves the design aspect and I like the business side of things, so it’s a nice balance … But it’s not without it’s all-out arguments.

PEOPLE: What’s your favorite look from the line?

Melissa: I love our button down chambray shirt for school picture day and the lobster with silly sunglasses tee for everyday or camp. There will be an animal humor graphic that will show up every season of the line.

PEOPLE: You’ve mentioned that your boys have very different personalities — how does that tie in to their sense of style?

Melissa: Each of the boys (and their friends) have weighed in on favorites from the line so we know we have represented many personalities and preferences in the line.

Plus, kids go through phases constantly and change their minds weekly so it’s good to have options.

Melissa Joan Hart King of Harts

PEOPLE: What role did each of your boys play in King of Harts? Are any of them total hams in front of the camera?

Melissa: Brady was a trooper at our spring ’15 photo shoot. Mason won’t smile these days which was tricky, but Tucker is just hard to get to hold still.

PEOPLE: Every little boy’s wardrobe should include a _.

Melissa: Cool pair of jeans and a great seasonal jacket.

PEOPLE: What’s up next for you? What can people expect to see on Melissa & Joey? Any fun surprises fans can look forward to?

Melissa: We will have a fun “witchy” type reunion Halloween episode first up. And I’m super proud of the Christmas movie I just directed for Lifetime that has yet to be named.

PEOPLE: Is there anything else you’d like us to know about King of Harts?

Melissa: We are super proud to say that all of our King of Harts pieces are made with awesomeness in the U.S.A!

We also are excited that KOH will benefit kids around the country in need with our association with Youth Villages. You can find info about the line and the charity.

In the pic, Vergara looks like a seriously disheveled hot mess. Wearing baggy sweats and Croc sandals, the usually glam Columbian looked distraught while in character with red lipstick all over her mouth and unruly hair. "#IWokeUpLikeThis," the funnyman captioned the image.

PHOTOS: Sofia's stunning red carpet looks

The actor then shared a video from on set where he and Eric Stonestreet pretend to make out with cardboard cutouts of themselves with the caption, "Leave us alone."

Off set, Vergara and Ferguson recently supported fellow cast mate Sarah Hyland, who performed in Hair at the Hollywood Bowl on Aug. 2, with their better halves Joe Manganiello and Justin Mikita.

PHOTOS: Joe's hottest shirtless moments

"The @therealsarahhyland fam crew for Hair at the Hollywood Bowl!," Ferguson captioned the selfie, in which Vergara looked more like her usual self!

Sofia Vergara's Engagement Ring Is Not An Engagement Ring, It's BetterEXPAND

Sofia Vergara went out in public wearing a large diamond ring on her ring finger, causing gossip sites to gnash their teeth with glee and trepidation, sputtering "Sofia Vergara spotted wearing a ring on THAT finger!!!!!" while Google image searching "Joe Manganiello + tuxedo."

Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello, who have been dating for two months, are not engaged. Sofia Vergara just has really good business acumen — the ring is from the line she designed for Kay Jewelers (it matches the necklace she's wearing, also from her line). And, by smilingly wearing it on her ring finger, she elicited this fawning description from the Daily Mail:

The stunning 42-year-old certainly did nothing to hide the expensive bauble as she walked down the street on the gorgeous, sunny summer's day.

In fact, it was quite the opposite, with the star toting her pricey black leather Hermès Birkin bag in the crook of her leg arm, her hand thus lifted up, putting the ring on full display.

And what a display it was.

The sizeable cushion-cut ring positively glimmered in the sunlight, the platinum setting standing out against her natural sun-kissed skin.

On first day of college , i was extremely nervous and scared . Dressing up was the last thing on my mind but the closer the day , the more thought went into that first day outfit . If you are a "fresher" then this post might be of some help .

Points to remember
- Dress up without dressing "up"
- NO smoldering pouts
- Try to smile a little
- Don't flip your hair back and forth , don't flip your hair back and forth ;)

The above points might sound stupid but are true because
- Your seniors are watching
- You DO NOT want to mess up that impression

I am not suggesting that your life is dependent on what they think but getting into the good books does get you some fun times ;) .

All these outfits are styled to make sure they look casual . The last thing you want to do is to overdress on your first day of college .

The top, shoes and shorts can all be found at Sarojini nagar . The ring can be purchased for any online jewelry store

Plazzo pants similar to these can be bought at GK , flats at janpath and earrings at any sterling silver store . Similar bag can be bought at Paharganj

My words of wisdom for the new college student

- Embrace it while it lasts , you will cry buckets when its over .
- Don't be an open book , people can be very sly.
- DO not believe all the gossip you hear , there might be some going on about you too.
- DO not loose your confidence. You will meet different people and most might not agree with you and your life . I guess that just part of growing up . You need to know what to edit out ;)

OH MY GOD i am so excited for you !!! Make me proud !!

P.S New video

   -
THOU SHALL BE AWESOME

The first place for the "Winter clothing" report is Bunglow Road in Kamla nagar
I have shopped here and i quite like the stuff and i am ALWAYS excited to go back again :), i have an experience of 3 years with this shop so you can count on my words. When i started  buying  sweaters they were for 99 :P now its 199

Name - 2 funky

I asked the guy for his card  which he did not have  , so i asked for the address and he pointed to this plate (its for the adjacent shop :P)

Racks outside with some sweaters

trying to entice the customers with their competitive prices :P

turn left from those racks and the stairs lead you down  to the shop

There are three shops next to each other  ,as you can guess  the shop in topic is on the left

The  shop from the inside
What i LOVE   - Reasonable prices ( a boon for college students )
-So much variety
- Has a changing room
- No pushy sales people (these guys are very chilled out)

  • They do exchange clothes !! * with the bill
  • Its slightly peaceful= not on the road
What i dislike - The stock can get monotonous, if you want completely new clothes you need to visit after 2 -        3 weeks
  • they do not take cards ( this is not a complaint :P , not many college students pay with it but i want to :( )

IMPORTANT - Do check each clothing before buying and WASH nicely (INITIAL WASH), i personally wash my woolens but you can dry clean as well
- Try going before 1.30 , college is not over = Early birds always catch the worm   clothes :P

check out the directions DIRECTIONS
- Walk straight from  Mc Donald's and just after the Wild craft store you will find it :)

P.S-1)This was my first journalistic venture :P , i had to sneak pictures :P.
2) There is a jewelry seller just outside McDonald :P he has some funky things but expensive , DO BARGAIN !!!

Do tell me about your winter shopping spots :D ,would LOVE to know
HAPPY SHOPPING
